LBP PS Vita Behind the Curtain Developer Diary

By | Dev Diary, Double Eleven, LittleBigPlanet

We have lifted the LBP curtains, revealing the passion both we and our brothers in arms Tarsier Studios have put into making the game an amazing experience.

Media Molecule have set the bar at a new height with the advent of the very first LBP. Both Tarsier and ourselves sought to pay homage to these efforts while creating something refreshing and original. PS Vita has been a tremendous platform for our game, taking full advantage of the new features the device brings as well as harnessing every drop of its processing power. We’ve always believed there is no better demonstrator of PS Vita’s abilities than LBP PS Vita.

The folks at Tarsier have leveraged our tech to create what we believe is truly awesome gameplay. We hope it comes across in this video on how the game was designed!

Under the terms of the deal, Double Eleven will work on LittleBigPlanet but will also begin to develop new titles for Sony platforms.

LBP PS Vita Press Release

By | LittleBigPlanet

“Double11, one of the brightest of a new wave of ambitious development studios in the UK, are delighted to announce that they are working on LittleBigPlanet for Sony’s new PlayStation Vita handheld device, revealed at the recent E3 in Los Angeles.

The exciting new studio based in the North-East of England, which boasts incredible talent & experience for a relatively new start-up, now has a staff count exceeding thirty.

Double11 was formed in 2010 by ex-Rockstar engineers Lee Hutchinson and Matt Shepcar and has gone from strength to strength in a whirlwind 12 months. Having had to be tight-lipped about their work for so long, both Lee and Matt are delighted that news regarding this prestigious project can now be revealed.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and a privilege for the studio to be working on a project such as LittleBigPlanet, particularly for such an exciting new platform. We’ve spent the best part of a year recruiting a crack squad of games development professionals and we’re delighted that we can finally announce it. It was really great to see such an enthusiastic response at the recent E3 and we are confident we’ll be able to do more so in the future.” – Lee Hutchinson, CEO, Double11.

Double11 are chiefly the technology architects on the project and are working closely with Sweden’s Tarsier Studios, who contributed significant content to the last two editions of LittleBigPlanet on the PS3.

Initial reaction from the E3 PS Vita demo has been extremely positive and Double11 are confident that they can achieve great things with Sony’s new platform.”
