YellowDart is full Steam ahead – PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate

By | PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate | No Comments

Hi folks,

We are proud to announce, in our continued collaboration with Kyoto based Q-Games, that PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will be launching on Steam and Windows PC TODAY!

For that of you that may not know, what is Shooter Ultimate? PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate is a twin stick shooter with equal elements of action, exploration, and puzzle solving. The Ultimate’ comes from the fact that PixelJunk Shooter 1 and 2 were combined to make a seamless story mode featuring all of the levels from both games.

That however, is not all, we’ve made a number of enhancements, making the PC edition the best ever version of the game. Players now have the choice to switch between two art styles: the new semi-3D, environmentally lit graphics with other visual enhancements in the ‘Ultimate’ edition or the ‘Classic’ style of the original games. It’s also good news for those who own PixelJunk Shooter already on Steam; Ultimate can use its save game to continue on into the second chapter.

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will be available on Steam and other selected online retailers from TODAY.

Be sure to follow @DoubleElevenLtd and @PixelJunkNews for more reconnaissance. D11 OUT.

The PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate Patch is live!

By | PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate | No Comments

Hey guys,

We’ve been reading your feedback from various net outlets for Shooter Ultimate, and are really pleased to announce that from today we are rolling out a patch to address a number of issues! This patch is already live in Europe and America with Japan to follow on July 18th….Please see below for all updates:

PS4

  • We all love a good rage quit from time to time, but not when it’s someone else doing it to us while we’re trying to earn a trophy so “Smoke Me a Kipper, I’ll Be Back for Breakfast” has had its unlock requirement changed. The 5 games no longer need to be won in a row.
  • We heard you, and the volume levels of audio tracks and sound effects have been increased.
  • The game will now use the screen size set by the Display Area Settings option.
  • Various other minor bug fixes.

PS Vita

  • “Smoke Me a Kipper, I’ll Be Back for Breakfast” has had the unlock requirement changed. The 5 games no longer need to be won in a row.
  • Various other minor bug fixes.

Hope you guys enjoy these improvements to the game, and thanks for playing!

Thanks,

D11

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate coming to PlayStation’s June Instant Game Collection

By | PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate | No Comments

Double Eleven in collaboration with Kyoto based Q-Games are delighted to announce that PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will launch as part of June’s Instant Game Collection, making it free for PlayStation™Plus subscribers on PlayStation™4 and PlayStation™Vita.

Developed by Double Eleven, PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate is a twin stick shooter with equal elements of action, exploration, and puzzle solving. The game combines Shooter 1 and 2 into one title with PS™4-ized graphics, also adding cross-play support. For the first time ever PS™Vita owners can play against PS™4 owners in the same game.

In Shooter Ultimate, players interact with environments that run an advanced fluid dynamics simulation needed to solve puzzles, overcome enemies, and progress through many unique levels. Learning how to combine water, lava, gas, magnetic oil and even stomach acid with your ships special power-ups is essential to progressing into the unpredictable depths of Apoxus Prime.

“We don’t ever just port a game, we work to improve the whole experience of the game when we bring it to a new platform and Shooter Ultimate is no exception, everything feels fresh and new”, said Mark South of Double Eleven.

Dylan Cuthbert, of Q-Games said “Double Eleven have done an incredible job with this title, the PS™4 visuals are eye-poppingly gorgeous and the controls are slippery slick, fans of the original are really going to enjoy the changes.”

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate was made possible by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Strategic Content initiative that continually seeks to bring the best new content to the PlayStation. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Shahid Ahmad said “At PlayStation, we’re excited to see PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate Edition coming to PS™4 and PS™Vita. It’s been inspiring seeing this project come to fruition. Titles like Shooter Ultimate underscore our commitment to support the best of the independent game creators out there. Double Eleven and Q-Games are renowned PlayStation developers and their previous collaboration PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate for Vita was received with critical acclaim.”

Lee Hutchinson, of Double Eleven said, “The PS™4 version has undergone a complete visual overhaul, we’ve introduced real-time lighting, normal maps, and really souped up all the visual effects. You can see the difference immediately! The fluid now looks very volumetric and “full-bodied” and we’ve also re-vamped the user interface to match the new look. We were joking that with all the changes and additions, this could have been called PixelJunk Shooter 3! Oh, and at last, due to popular demand, Shooter now has a platinum trophy!”

Look out for the game in just a week, in the mean time check out @DoubleElevenLtd for the latest, and share your thoughts with #ShooterUltimate.

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate on it’s way!

By | PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate | No Comments

Hey Folks,

There’s been a lot of good  (and a few wild ) guesses today as to what we have been up to, and unfortunately it’s not Tikiman Saga Ultra HD (this time around) ! The good news is however that both  Q-Games and ourselves are really proud to announce that this summer PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate is coming to PSN on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita!

For those of you that haven’t played any of the Shooters on PS3 or PC, Ultimate is twin stick shooter that is as much about action as it is about exploration, and puzzle solving. Players interact with environments that run an advanced fluid dynamics simulation needed to solve puzzles, overcome enemies, and progress through many unique levels. Learning how to combine water, lava, gas, magnetic oil and even stomach acid with your ships special power-ups is essential to progressing into the unpredictable depths of the planet Apoxus Prime.

For those of you that do remember the original PixelJunk Shooter games, Ultimate at it’s heart combines the campaigns of Shooter 1 and 2 into one flowing narrative. That is just the beginning, as we have done a ton of stuff to Ultimate to make it a worthy third title in the series. Richard Snowdon from our production team has given PlayStation Blog the skinny on why we hope we have made the ultimate version. So do have a look here.

IGN has the exclusive announcement so feel free to head on over and have a look!

Shooter Ultimate is having it’s first preview on March 7th at the upcoming BitSummit MMXIV in Kyoto at both Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia and Q-Games’ booths.
